Abstract

The study was carried out in the estuarine part of the Słupia River, which, for the most part, comprises  the harbour channel. The results of the present study showed that the total abundance
of bacterioneuston was higher compared to bacterioplankton. In these two groups of bacteria, dead bacterial cells were dominant. The total number of bacteria, as well as the number of live and
dead bacteria was similar in the entire horizontal profile. The abundance of live and dead bacteria showed distinct seasonal variation.
